Appointments
-
The Women’s Practice is a private billing medical practice.
An overview of our Consultation Fees and explanatory notes is available by clicking here.
Please speak with your doctor regarding additional fees for procedures and some vaccinations.
Fees are payable in full at the time of consultation.
Visa, Mastercard, EFTPOS and cash are accepted for payment.
The Women’s Practice is equipped with Medicare Online. For current Medicare Card holders, our reception team are able to submit any applicable Medicare rebate claim electronically on your behalf.
We are conscious of the widening ‘gap’ caused by the lack of funding support for primary health care. This higher gap is due to the Medicare Rebate increase continuing to be substantially less than inflation (approximately half).

To ensure that your first appointment runs smoothly we ask that new patients arrive 15 minutes early to complete new patient paperwork. You are also able to download the form here and bring the completed form with you.
Routine appointments at The Women’s Practice are 30 minutes in duration. This ensures that you are not rushed and that your health concerns are able to be addressed thoroughly. For a more complicated matter or a number of isuses please book a longer appointment. The ensures that your doctor has sufficient time to address your health needs and remains on time for their other patients.
Longer appointments (45 and 60 minutes) are available on request and may be required for certain types of appointments (eg an initial menopause consultation or a comprehensive health assessment).
Our helpful reception team are happy to guide you if you are unsure of the length of appointment required. If you have not booked enough time to cover your issues you may be asked to return for another consultation so that other patients are not kept waiting. You will not be charged for a longer consultation if your appointment is for a shorter duration that anticipated.
Please ensure that a separate appointment is booked for each family member.
All procedures (eg IUD insertion) will be booked only after consultation with your doctor.
Unexpected emergencies occur and may be required to be seen first. We thank you for your patience and understanding if such cases delay your appointment.
If an Interpreter of Auslan Service is required, please advise staff prior to your appointment. A minimum of 24 hours is required to organise these services.

HotDoc scripts are at the discretion of your doctor and will incur a private fee with no medicare rebate.
-
New referrals to specialists will require an appointment, as will any referrals for new patients of The Women’s Practice.

If you have consented for contact via SMS your GP may send you an SMS with comments regarding your test results once they have been checked.
If you have not given consent or not received an SMS in an agreed time frame please phone receptions for your test results.
Do not assume that the practice will call your with test results.
Reception staff are only able to pass on the doctor’s comment regarding test results. Any clinical information will need to be discussed either with your doctor or the practice nurse.
If if your test results are abnormal or if further action is required an appointment is usually necessary.
Investigations will not be ordered for other health practitioners without a prior discussion between the doctor and that practitioner. It is a misuse of Medicare for other health practitioners to request GPs order tests on their behalf.
If you have a review appointment to disucss a particular test result with your doctor please check with reception 24 hours prior to your appointment to ensure that these results have been received.

If your doctor offers telehealth (telephone and video) consultations, these attract the same fees as a corresponding ‘face to face’ consultation. Where a patient is eligible for a Medicare rebate, the corresponding rebates apply.
Eligibility for a Medicare rebate for a telehealth consultation requires that a patient has had a ‘face to face’ consultation at The Women’s Practice within the previous 12 months or is registered with The Women’s Practice for My Medicare. If you are unsure if you are eligible, please speak to our reception team.
Fees are payable in full at the time of consultation. The reception team are then able to submit any applicable Medicare rebate claim electronically on your behalf.
There may be an additional Facility Fee in addition to the GP’s Consult or Procedure fee for procedures.
Please ensure a separate appointment is booked for each family member.
If you have a complicated medical concern or more that one issue to discuss please book a longer appointment. This will enable our doctors to run on time for all their patients.
